Intercultural Weeks start on 9 September
Two-week series of events celebrates cultures and diversity
On Saturday, 9 September at 12 noon, Mayor Ralph Burghart will open the Intercultural Weeks at the Chemnitz market. This marks the start of the two-week series of events. Under the motto "WE are Chemnitz", music enthusiasts, dance groups, football teams and artists will showcase their skills. Associations, initiatives and network partners who contribute to a cosmopolitan Chemnitz will also be presenting themselves at numerous stands. Culinary specialities from many countries complete the offer.
The aim of the Intercultural Weeks in Chemnitz is to publicise the unifying power of diversity. After all, diversity is and will remain a central theme for the present and future of the city of Chemnitz.
Concerts, festivals, discussion forums and much more will take place at around 60 individual events at various locations and with various sponsors until 24 September 2023 (and for a few days beyond). The events are as diverse as the people who live in Chemnitz. Advocating for better political and legal conditions for Germans and immigrants to live together is a central goal of the event series.
