Intercultural weeks in September
Invitation to the press conference: 9 September, 2 p.m., Room 118, City Hall, Markt 1
On Monday, 9 September at 2 pm, Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky and the City of Chemnitz Migration Officer, Etelka Kobuß, are inviting representatives of the media to a press conference in Room 118 at City Hall, Markt 1.
Together they will provide information about this year's Intercultural Weeks in Chemnitz, which will take place from 14 to 29 September.
The nationwide Intercultural Week (IKW) has been taking place at the end of September every year since 1975. It is supported and sponsored by churches, local authorities, charities, trade unions, integration councils and representatives, associations, educational institutions, migrant organisations, religious communities and initiative groups. Around 5,000 events will be organised in almost 700 cities and municipalities. The nationwide motto for 2024 is "New Spaces".
Chemnitz has been taking part in the series of events since 1991. Since 2015, the kick-off has been held annually in September with a festival of cultures in the city centre. This year, the two-week series of events in Chemnitz will kick off on 14 September 2024 on the market square under the title "All for Chemnitz - Chemnitz for All". The patron of the event is Lord Mayor Sven Schulze.
Members of the cross-resource and cross-organisational preparatory team will be available to answer questions at the press conference.
