Intercultural Weeks: Diversity. The best against diversity

This is the tenor of an appeal by the city of Chemnitz to take part in the Intercultural Weeks 2015, which will take place from 27 September to 3 October in many German cities, including Chemnitz. The two-week series of events will begin here on 19 September.

Numerous activities and events will take place, bringing together people of different nationalities. At the same time, the organisers want to make it clear that people of different origins are an asset to this city. In this way, the dialogue with foreigners should also reduce fears of contact and prejudices. With this in mind, the organisers want to offer a wide range of events, including readings, discussion forums, workshops and other themed events.

The city is now calling for contributions to the Intercultural Weeks:
We welcome offers that provide information about migration and integration; that contribute to greater understanding for one another and thus lead to more tolerance and cosmopolitanism. There is also room for religious dialogue and cultural exchange. Cultural events or events on religions and origins are particularly suitable for encounters between people of different nationalities.

All details for interested parties, including the registration form for download, can be found at www.chemnitz.de. Registrations for the Intercultural Weeks and the opening event on 19.9.15 at Chemnitz Neumarkt can be made using this form.

Please return the form by 15.6.15 (to register your participation including the opening event) or by 30.06.2015 (to register for the programme booklet).

For further information, please contact the foreigners' representative, Etelka Kobuß, on 488 5047 or by email: auslaenderbeauftragte@stadt-chemnitz.de
