Intercultural street and neighbourhood festival in the Reitbahn district

Next Thursday, 9 July, from 2 pm to 7 pm, the Intercultural Street and District Festival will be celebrated in the Reitbahnviertel. Together with the Annenschule (upper and primary school) and many actors from the Reitbahnviertel, the square in front of the Annenschule and the Annenplatz (Annenstraße corner Reitbahnstraße) will be the venue for the annual neighbourhood festival.

This year's motto is: peaceful coexistence between nations, genders and religions. The pupils of the Annenschule (with 20 different nations) and the children of the day-care centre on Moritzstraße (17 different nations) show that this works very well.

For anyone who wants to find out more about asylum and refugees, there is an information tent with counsellors from the social welfare office, the foreigners' representative Etelka Kobuß, Save Me, the migration and youth migration service of the AWO and the coordinator for voluntary work in the area of asylum, Irina Hilbert. Here you can have your name written in different languages, have your face photographed for the "Gesicht zeigen" homepage, print buttons or help design the giant peace wish chain. There will also be craft and activity stands, bouncy castles, face painting, nail design, bag printing, a roller slide, an intercultural stage programme and much more.

The event is funded by the federal and state programme "Stadtumbau-Ost", the City of Chemnitz and the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz.
