Adult education centre: Lecture on 5 October, 7 to 8.30 pm, at the TIETZ
On Tuesday, 5 October 2021, 7 to 8.30 p.m., the adult education centre invites you to another event in the series "trau.schau.wem? - faktenfest und mediensicher", a project to strengthen media literacy, at the TIETZ, room 4.07. Participation is free.
Matthias Nowak, press spokesman for the City of Chemnitz, will report on the day-to-day work of the press office. Under the title "The work of the press office of the City of Chemnitz", he will discuss its tasks and the channels used, thus providing an opportunity to understand the background and processes right through to the message to citizens.
Cities and local authorities are in the public eye and have to justify their actions. However, administrative actions and, above all, administrative language are often difficult for citizens to understand. This is where the work and most important task of a press office comes in: To explain the actions of an office or authority to citizens as comprehensibly and transparently as possible - and to do so on all channels: online, in the official gazette, on social media, on radio or television.
More than 30 offices work for the City of Chemnitz, producing guidelines, offering subsidies, building, planning or exhibiting. The press office "speaks" to the outside world for all these different areas. In addition, there are press enquiries, which are processed and published truthfully and comprehensibly according to input from the departments.
In the age of social media, the press office is also becoming one thing above all: another direct point of contact for citizens' concerns and complaints. These new ways of communicating are changing the work, speeding up processes and requiring new and creative solutions in order to present the entire administration in a citizen-centred, honest and transparent manner.
