Initial results of the Tierpark transport concept

Digital citizens' forum on 2 November on part of the master plan

On Tuesday, 2 November, 6 to 7.30 pm, the first results of the traffic concept commissioned as part of the planned modernisation of the zoo will be presented at a digital citizens' forum. The link to the online event can be found at www.chemnitz.de/VerkehrskonzeptTierpark. The "Masterplan Tierpark Chemnitz 2030+" is also linked there.

Among other things, the traffic concept for the master plan deals with how the car park can be expanded and how a parking guidance system could be designed. It also focuses on how the environment can be optimised so that more people come on foot or by bike. The process and the results of the transport concept will be published on the aforementioned website on an ongoing basis.

In September 2018, the "Tierpark Chemnitz 2030+ Masterplan" was adopted by the city council. The aim is to comprehensively modernise the facility in order to increase its attractiveness. The target groups and catchment area are to be expanded. As a result, visitor numbers should ultimately rise to around 250,000 to 300,000 per year. This will result in a considerable increase in visitor traffic.
