Initial preparations begin for the construction of the residential and commercial building in Getreidemarkt
First tree felling in the coming week - archaeological excavations begin in summer
In preparation for the inner-city construction project in the Getreidemarkt area, the construction of a new residential and commercial building with an underground car park, and for the archaeological excavations that will precede it, tree felling will be necessary in the coming week. The excavations are expected to begin towards the end of the first half of 2018 and will last for around a year. At the same time, preparatory construction work such as the laying of district heating pipes will be carried out.
From 1 to 3 March inclusive, a total of 49 trees that are subject to the tree protection statute will be felled. In addition, further trees and shrubs will be cleared that do not require authorisation. All necessary applications have been submitted and approved.
As a replacement measure, a total of 104 large-crowned deciduous trees are to be planted by the developer. Eight of these trees will be planted on site, and a compensation payment of around 59,000 euros is to be made for 96 trees.
A development plan has existed for the "Getreidemarkt" city centre area since 1994, which was most recently further specified and substantiated with the resolution of the Planning, Building and Environment Committee no. B-051/2018 "Renewed draft and interpretation decision on development plan no. 93/03 Getreidemarkt, Part A: Getreidemarkt, Kirchgäßchen, Lohstraße". This contains the planning regulations for the preparation of the construction site - including species protection and tree protection.
