Information stele at the town hall is unveiled
Inauguration ceremony: on 3 October, 10.30 am, in the Stadthallenpark, near the fountain
On Thursday, 3 October at 10.30 a.m., a new information stele will be inaugurated at the Chemnitz City Hall in the Stadthallenpark, near the fountain (see map).
After words of welcome from Mayor Ralph Burghart and Dr Ralf Schulze, Managing Director of C3 Veranstaltungszentren, the stele will be ceremoniously unveiled by Jaqueline Drechsler and Thomas Kehrer, two of the donors for the erection of the stele.
The ceremony will be accompanied by music from the ShowBiss! Ladies.
The new stele provides information in two languages about the history of the Stadthalle, the former "Kongress" hotel and the art in the Stadthallenpark. Chemnitz residents and visitors can learn more about the history of the city on site.
The 17th information stele was partly financed by donations from citizens of the city (800 euros). The other part of the costs, totalling 2,500 euros, was borne by the City of Chemnitz.
The information steles project is being planned and implemented by the Mayor's department together with the Chemnitz History Society, the Association of Tour Guides, the City Archive of Chemnitz and the City of Chemnitz Monument Protection Authority.
