Information on winter maintenance in municipal parks
With the start of the winter months, the City of Chemnitz Parks and Gardens Department once again points out that no winter maintenance is carried out on paths in municipal parks and facilities.
Footpaths on roads along parks and green spaces are cleared in accordance with the street cleaning regulations. There is no obligation to clear and grit paths within municipal parks and green spaces.
Gritting and clearing work can only be carried out on an area of 440,000 square metres, which includes a network of more than 200 kilometres of paths in the city, and only with difficulty and after the completion of compulsory tasks.
The department therefore asks you to note that walking in the parks and green spaces in snowy or icy conditions is always at your own risk. There are always cleared and gritted footpaths on roads next to the parks and green spaces where you can reach your destination safely.
