Information on winter maintenance in municipal parks
With the start of winter 2017/2018, the City of Chemnitz Parks and Gardens Department once again points out that no winter maintenance is carried out on paths in municipal parks and facilities. There is no obligation to clear and grit paths within the city's parks and green spaces.
Gritting and clearing work can only be carried out on an area of 440,000 square metres, which includes a network of more than 200 kilometres of paths in the city, as a priority and after the completion of mandatory tasks.
The Parks Department therefore asks you to note that walking in the parks and green spaces in snow or icy conditions is always at your own risk. In addition to the parks, there are cleared and gritted footpaths on roads, which you are requested to use.
Footpaths on roads alongside parks and green spaces are cleared in accordance with the street cleaning regulations.
