Information on childcare in day care centres

New regulations from next week / Information hotline from Monday

Due to the general decree on the implementation of the Infection Protection Act measures on the occasion of the corona pandemic to stop the operation of schools and day-care facilities from 1 May 2020, school operations for grades 4 at primary and special schools will resume on Wednesday, 6 May 2020. The following arrangements have therefore been made for the city of Chemnitz in consultation with the State Office for Schools and Education:

Supervision of primary and special needs pupils
From Wednesday, 6 May 2020, classes will resume in year 4 (except for special needs schools with a focus on mental development). All-day supervision will be provided by the teachers, including early and late after-school hours.

Emergency care for grades 1 to 3 is provided all day by the after-school care centre, including early and late after-school care. The opening hours are from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. if required by the parents. Childcare is provided at the location of the after-school care centre. Children in grades 1 to 3 without an after-school care contract are looked after by after-school teachers from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. - during normal school hours. The educational staff in the after-school care centre are responsible for completing the tasks assigned to the children by the school. It is not about teaching new content.

Emergency care in day care centres

The group of people entitled to emergency care in a day care centre has been extended by the new general ruling on the implementation of infection protection.
