Information on barbecuing in public parks

The City of Chemnitz has nine barbecue areas for barbecuing in public green spaces and parks. The following areas are available

  • the festival meadow in Küchwaldpark,
  • the Schloßteichinsel in the area of the pavilion,
  • the riverside park,
  • the city park/meadow in Vogelsche Park,
  • the meadow area in the city park near the large city park pond,
  • the city park/meadow area on the Südring,
  • Chemnitzer Straße opposite Kaufland,
  • the Kappel park,
  • the meadow area at the Klaffenbach moated castle.

In the green space statutes §3 (1) point 5, barbecuing in these public barbecue areas is strictly prohibited from forest fire warning level 3 and constitutes an administrative offence. Currently (as of 7 June, 6:27 a.m.), the forest fire danger level is only 1, but based on the experiences of the past summer, the Parks Department would like to point out that it is essential to find out the current forest fire danger level before barbecuing.
