Information on 1 May in Chemnitz
Numerous assemblies and events of various political orientations have been registered for 1 May in Chemnitz. For example, the DGB City Association Chemnitz, the Student Council TU Chemnitz, the Network for Cultural and Youth Work e.V., the cultural alliance "Hand in Hand" and Bündnis Chemnitz Nazifrei have events in preparation. The party Der III. Weg party has registered a demonstration and several rallies. These gatherings will take place in Chemnitz city centre and in parts of the Sonnenberg. The exact routes of the demonstrations may be subject to change.
Information on the traffic situation: During the assembly from 8 am to 10 pm, there will be considerable traffic obstructions in the city centre and in parts of the Sonnenberg. Those familiar with the area are asked to avoid the city centre. Diversions are not signposted.
The following closures will be in place from 4.30 am:
- Bahnhofstraße from Zschopauer Straße in the direction of Augustusburger Straße
- Bahnhofstraße from Waisenstraße in the direction of Brückenstraße
- Brückenstraße from Straße der Nationen in the direction of Bahnhofstraße
- Augustusburger Straße from Zieschestraße in the direction of Bahnhofstraße
From 6 a.m. there is a stopping ban in Promenadenstraße between Hartmannstraße and Theunertstraße (on the right-hand side). The car park on Arndtstraße will be completely closed.
From 7 a.m., Augustusburger Straße will be closed from Schüffnerstraße in the direction of Zietenstraße and from Hans-Sachs-Straße in the direction of Clausstraße.
From 10 a.m., the closures will affect the following roads
- Bahnhofstraße from Annaberger Straße in the direction of Zschopauer Straße
- Dresdner Straße from Fürstenstraße in the direction of Waisenstraße
- Zietenstraße from Jacobstraße in the direction of Augustusburger Straße
- Clausstraße from Bernhardstraße in the direction of Augustusburger Straße
- Zschopauer Straße from Ritterstraße in the direction of Bahnhofstraße
Operational closures on 1 May are possible.
The Waisenstraße car park will be closed from 10 a.m. on 30 April 2018. (It will not be available until 2 p.m. on 2 May.) The car park at Johanniskirche will be closed from 10 p.m. onwards.
The closures will be lifted as soon as possible depending on the progress of the operation. We ask for your understanding.
Parking:
There will be restrictions in the Sonnenberg area due to stopping restrictions. Residents are asked to observe these. Since the middle of this week, the city's public order service has been distributing information leaflets to parked vehicles in the affected road sections. We ask residents for their understanding for these measures. We do not want to cause any further inconvenience. On Tuesday morning, 1 May, illegally parked vehicles must be towed away at the owner's expense.
