Information from the transport authority on the remodelling of the 4th construction phase of the central bus stop
As already announced, the traffic routing for the 4th construction phase of the reconstruction of the central stop was set up in the night from 4 to 5 March 2018. CVAG services and pedestrian traffic have been running relatively smoothly since this morning. However, minor delays could not be avoided.
Despite the slowdown in motor vehicle traffic, the traffic routing along Bahnhofstrasse, including the entrances and exits from the Moritzhof underground car park and the Kaufhof multi-storey car park, is already well understood by drivers.
There were problems on the route due to a defect in the radio receiver at the Bahnhofstraße/Zschopauer Straße traffic lights. This does not switch in synchronisation with the other traffic lights as planned. This interrupts the flow of traffic coming from Falkeplatz in the direction of Zschopauer Straße and causes traffic jams. This defect is to be rectified tomorrow, Tuesday 6 March 2018. Drivers are advised to use the Annenstraße relief route or, if possible, to take a wide detour around the area. Meanwhile, Annenstraße still has free capacity.
Construction work on the carriageway and track has already begun this morning in parallel with the installation of pedestrian barriers on Bahnhofstraße between the central bus stop and the TIETZ. The previously announced closure of the pedestrian crossing in this area will be implemented later today.
The traffic flow will continue to be monitored by the traffic authority in order to make any necessary optimisations to the signage and traffic light programmes.
