Information from the Strategy Committee

In a closed meeting yesterday, the Strategy Committee discussed perspectives on training, qualifications and study opportunities at Chemnitz City Council. Around 1,000 positions will need to be filled by 2025. This will have to be done proportionately through new training, by qualifying our own staff and through external recruitment.

The number of new trainees was already increased to 64 in 2015, and 95 will be hired in 2016. In addition to decentralised funds for subject-specific training, around EUR 160,000 is available centrally for staff training, which is used to implement needs-based training, management training and central interdisciplinary training requirements.

Furthermore, the relocation concept to the new technical town hall was presented by parts of the administration from the town hall, the Moritzhof and the Bürgerhaus am Wall. All offices of the building department, the environmental office, the school and sports office, the central procurement office, the post office/printing office and parts of the information processing office are to be housed in the new Technical City Hall. In addition, the building management and structural engineering departments, which are currently split between different locations, will be brought together in this complex. This plan will be further finalised in the coming months together with the employees of the departments.

The committee was informed about the Morgenstadt project. See also press release no. 66 from 10/02/2015.

The committee members also received an overview of the council enquiries answered and the scope of their processing in recent years. In 2014, 562 enquiries were answered by the administration. In comparison: in 2013, these responses were provided in 450 cases.

The next Administration 2020 Strategy Committee will take place on 26 August 2015.
