Voluntary military service - objection to the transfer of data to the Federal Office of Defence Administration
Women and men who are German within the meaning of the Basic Law have the opportunity to perform voluntary military service. In accordance with Section 58c of the Soldiers Act, the registration authorities are obliged to transmit the surname, first names and current address of persons with German citizenship who will come of age in the coming year to the Federal Office of Defence Administration. From there, information material on activities in the armed forces is sent to the persons concerned. Pursuant to Section 36 (2) of the Federal Registration Act, data transmission is only permitted if the data subjects have not objected.
The affected men and women born in 2008 have until 28 February 2025 to exercise their right to object. The application to object to the transfer of data is available at the Chemnitz Registration Office, at the city's citizen service centres and in the City of Chemnitz service portal under Data protection: Objection to the transfer of personal data. Objections to the transfer of a data subject's data must be addressed to the City of Chemnitz, Citizens' Registration Office, Registration Office, 09106 Chemnitz (located at Düsseldorfer Platz 1) or can be submitted at any citizen service centre of the City of Chemnitz.
