Information from the mayor on the possible conversion of an office and residential building in Reichenbrand
Yesterday evening, Building Mayor Michael Stötzer invited the neighbours directly adjacent to the construction project to a meeting, who are directly affected by the possible conversion of an office building into shared accommodation for asylum seekers and refugees.
The granting of planning permission and the formal information provided to the neighbours had caused disquiet, which the mayor addressed yesterday. Information was provided on the status of the planning permission procedure, the legal framework and the right of objection of the directly affected neighbours.
The administration must grant the owner, and anyone else, permission in a regular planning permission procedure if all the legal framework conditions that are the subject of the application procedure are complied with for the planned use. Based on the current legal situation, housing, age-appropriate/assisted living, detached houses along the street, communal accommodation for asylum seekers or, for example, for students or trainees would be permitted.
At present, the owner has submitted a specific application for planning permission for residential use, which has already been granted. In addition, there is an approved application for a residential home to accommodate asylum seekers or for students and trainees, which is not yet final. Neighbours have lodged an objection to this approval. The affected neighbours can still exercise their right of objection.
It is not yet known whether and when the owner will realise one or other of the intended uses.
At the same time, the city once again made it clear that it has no need for the property to be used as asylum accommodation and would rather focus on decentralised accommodation for refugees. Further talks with those directly affected are planned for the coming weeks. These will take place in the Technical Town Hall.
