Information for citizens: SEPA will also apply to payment transactions with Chemnitz City Council from 1 February 2014
Note on the bank details of the City of Chemnitz
From 1 February 2014, the uniform European payment format SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) will apply. The previous account numbers and sort codes will be replaced by IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and BIC (Bank Identifier Code) (see also PM 624 dated 25 September 2013). The bank details of Chemnitz City Council that have been converted to SEPA will be as follows from 1 February 2014:

Many citizens and taxpayers have given the city administration of Chemnitz a direct debit authorisation for regular payment transactions, which has now been converted into a so-called SEPA mandate as part of the preparations for SEPA. Since the beginning of October, the municipal administration has been writing to the debtors and informing them of the continued existence of the direct debit authorisation. This letter also contains the twelve-digit mandate reference and the creditor identification number of the City of Chemnitz as well as the new bank details with IBAN and BIC. (If the bank details stated in the letter are correct, the debtors do not need to take any action. An appropriate form for changes has been enclosed with the letter). In total, around 90,600 SEPA direct debit mandates have been issued by the city administration to date. The first SEPA direct debit run took place on 15 November 2013: 65,304 SEPA direct debits were executed on this day.
