Information event on the remodelling of Gablenzplatz

On the occasion of the redesign of Gablenzplatz, the City of Chemnitz's Urban Development and Construction Department, together with the Gablenz and Yorckgebiet i. G. citizens' platform, invites you to an information event on 22 November 2018 at 5 pm in the auditorium of Diesterweg-Oberschule, Kreherstraße 101.
Mayor Michael Stötzer and the head of the Gablenz and Yorckgebiet i. G. citizens' platform will present the construction project together with representatives of the civil engineering department. The diversions during the construction period will also be explained. A representative of CVAG will provide information about public transport. Afterwards, Michael Stötzer invites you to a joint discussion.
At Gablenzplatz, the two junctions Augustusburger Straße/Yorckstraße and Augustusburger Straße/Geibelstraße are to be converted into mini roundabouts. The conversion will improve road safety and the efficiency of the two junctions. It will also provide safer guidance for pedestrians, particularly in terms of school route safety. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2019 and last until May 2020. The total costs for the remodelling of Gablenzplatz, including road construction, renewal of the lighting and the redesign of the entire square, amount to around 2.3 million euros. Of this, 1.62 million euros in funding has been earmarked.
