Information event on domestic violence and honour killings

On Wednesday, 8 November, from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m., the City of Chemnitz Migration Officer, Etelka Kobuß, invites you to an information event organised by the Perlenschatz association on the topics of domestic violence, forced marriage and honour killings. The lecture by Anette Bauscher, Managing Director of the association, will take place in the event hall of the TIETZ (3rd floor), Moritzstraße 20.
Admission is free. Registration is possible until 7 November, 12 noon, by e-mail to migrationsbeauftragte(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
Representatives of the media are also invited.
Perlenschatz e. V. protects women who are affected by domestic violence and threatened by forced marriage or murder in the name of "honour". The non-profit organisation sees its mission primarily in refugee and migrant women and their children. In Germany, too, there are thousands of young women who are married off against their will every year. According to the World Health Organisation, women from Asia and the Middle East are particularly affected by domestic violence and oppression and need a place where they are safe and have prospects in life.
In line with the slogan "A real chance of integration", Perlenschatz e. V. accompanies women to freedom and a self-determined life in dignity. In order to help those affected by their culture, they live in a shared flat with house parents. Perlenschatz e. V. provides them with intensive, personalised support until they feel safe enough to move into their own home. The mission of Perlenschatz e. V. is to protect abused and threatened women and make them shine.
According to an EU study, 35 per cent of all women in Germany between the ages of 15 and 74 are victims of violence. According to statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office, a man has killed his (ex-)partner every third day.
