Information evening on local municipal climate protection

6 November 2019, 5.30 pm, Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5

Carina Kühnel from the City of Chemnitz's environmental department will give a talk on the current status and ongoing measures in the area of municipal climate protection on Wednesday, 6 November at 5.30 pm at the Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5. Chemnitz schoolchildren from the Fridays for Future movement, those involved in the "Climate emergency for Chemnitz!" initiative and interested citizens are cordially invited to find out more and discuss necessary future developments together. An exchange also offers the opportunity to act in a coordinated or complementary manner in favour of climate-friendly urban development.

Background
Since joining the "Climate Alliance of European Cities with Indigenous Rainforest Peoples/Alianza del clima" in 1992, the city has been committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The implementation of the measures resulting from the Integrated Climate Protection Programme (2012) and the tasks of the Energy Policy Work Programme and Climate Adaptation Programme (2017-2020) have been recognised as very successful by several external evaluations (including the european energy award 2015, european climate award 2017).
