Indoor pool season starts on 1 September with restrictions

The reopening of the 50-metre hall in the municipal swimming pool has to be postponed until the beginning of December. This is due to delays associated with the tendering process for the commissioning of additional services for the refurbishment of the gallery, as the ordering of new acoustic elements as wall panelling and special composite materials for pipework construction is associated with longer delivery times.
In contrast, the work currently underway in the second construction phase to refurbish the ventilation systems is on schedule. Necessary gutting work has already been completed and the new building services and electrical connections to the gallery are currently being realised. Additional construction and installation work totalling around 350,000 euros will be carried out over the next few weeks.
As long as the 50-metre hall in the municipal pool has to remain closed, bathers are requested to use the 25-metre hall and the Bernsdorf and Gablenz swimming pools. The Gablenz indoor swimming pool will be open for an extended period on two Tuesdays in September, as school swimming starts later: the Gablenz indoor swimming pool will also be open to swimmers on Tuesday, 2 September and Tuesday, 9 September, from 7 am to 2 pm.
With the construction of barrier-free access to the foyer of the municipal swimming pool, a further construction measure is currently underway, which is being supported with funds from the "Integration Assistance" funding programme of the Sächsische AufbauBank. This measure is intended to further improve and expand the accessibility of the building. The planned financial volume of these services is estimated at approx. 85,000 euros. This measure will be implemented in parallel with ongoing pool operations.
The 25-metre indoor swimming pool at the municipal swimming pool was reopened on 21 July 2014 and can be used as follows during special opening hours until 31 August 2014:

On public holidays, the Stadtbad is open from 09:00 - 15:00.
Preparations for the upcoming indoor pool season from 1 September 2014 are underway at the Bernsdorf and Gablenz swimming pools, where legally required maintenance work has been carried out on the pool equipment, repairs to the pools, painting and cleaning work. This week, the swimming and bathing pools will be refilled with fresh water and the dosing systems will be put into operation. The hygiene inspections will then be carried out by the Chemnitz City Health Department.

Due to the current renovation work on the glass façade, the Am Südring swimming pool will probably have to remain closed until the end of October.
