Increasing fire risk in the forests

The risk of fire in the forests has increased again due to the warm and dry weather of the past few days. Dried leaves and grass on the forest floor are particularly flammable, but residual crown wood and brushwood from previous storms are also highly flammable materials. Forest visitors must therefore be particularly careful and attentive and observe the following:

  • No fires may be lit in the forest and smoking is also prohibited.
  • Vehicles may only be parked in designated car parks. Please ensure that they are not parked above dry ground vegetation, as the catalyser can ignite the ground vegetation.
  • Access routes into the forest must not be blocked by parked vehicles, as these also serve as rescue routes in the event of forest fires or for rescuing injured persons.
  • Anyone who discovers a forest fire should immediately make an emergency call to 112. Rapid intervention by the fire brigade can effectively prevent the further spread of forest fires in most cases.
  • Particularly in forest fire danger levels 4 and 5, great care should be taken when visiting the forest or, if necessary, a visit to the forest should be avoided.

Further information:

In addition to the current danger level at the specific location, the app "Waldbrandgefahr Sachsen" also provides information on behaviour in the event of forest fire danger. The app can also be used to report a forest fire with geographical coordinates and to make an emergency call. The nearest rescue points in the forest are also displayed. The forest fire app is available free of charge in all popular app stores.
