Increasing fire risk in the forests

The warm and dry weather of the past few days has once again increased the risk of fire in the forests. Dry leaves and grass on the forest floor in particular are potentially highly flammable materials in the forest. Crown residues and brushwood from recent storm damage are also highly flammable materials.

Visitors to the forest must therefore be particularly careful and attentive.
Attention: No fires may be lit and smoking is also prohibited in the forest.

Vehicles may only be parked in designated car parks. Please ensure that they are not parked above dry ground vegetation, as the catalyser can ignite the ground vegetation. Access routes into the woods must not be blocked by parked vehicles, as these also serve as rescue routes in the event of forest fires or for rescuing injured forest visitors.

Barbecues are prohibited in public green spaces from forest fire danger level 3 in accordance with the green space regulations.

Further information:
The German Weather Service determines the official forest fire danger level on a daily basis, which can be accessed at https://www.mais.de/php/sachsenforst.php or www.dwd.de/waldbrand.

The free app "Waldbrandgefahr Sachsen", which is available in the app stores under the keyword "Waldbrandgefahr Sachsen", offers extended functionality. In addition to the current forest fire danger level at the specific location, this provides information on behaviour in the event of forest fire danger. It is also possible to report a forest fire with attached geographical coordinates and make an emergency call. The nearest rescue points in the forest are also displayed.
