Inauguration of an information stele in the Rosenhof
Press and photo session: Sunday, 8 May, 2 p.m., Rosenhof, by the fountain
On Sunday 8 May at 2 pm , another information stele will be unveiled at the Rosenhof. Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will unveil the stele together with a local resident who has lived at Rosenhof since 1962. The chairman of the Chemnitz History Association, Jens Beutmann, will also be on site. The programme will be organised by the Köhler-Schimmel dance school based at Rosenhof.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited.
The meeting point is the large fountain at the Rosenhof (near Rosenhof 23).
The stele will be installed on the Rosenhof from 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, 5 May . The installation can also be accompanied by a photo session.
The new information stele describes the history of Chemnitz at this location in different eras: Where timber and horses were once traded, beautiful squares such as the Holzmarkt and the Roßmarkt were created during the Gründerzeit. After the Second World War, this area was completely rebuilt in 1962 with the Rosenhof.
About the information steles project
Since 2018, several information steles have been erected in the city centre, including at the Red Tower, at the former city gates and at the Karl Marx Monument.
The project is being implemented by the Mayor's Department with the support of the Chemnitz History Association and the Chemnitz Tour Guide Association as well as freelance historians.
Further steles are planned for Schloßberg, Stadthalle and Theaterplatz. Citizens have the opportunity to become a sponsor of such an information stele. Anyone who donates at least 250 euros can be named on a stele.
