Implementation of the Corona Protection Ordinance in Chemnitz
City of Chemnitz sets out further details
The City of Chemnitz has today set out further details on the Corona Protection Ordinance of the Free State of Saxony, which came into force today. Like the entire ordinance, the regulations will initially apply until 10 January 2021, and it should be noted once again that masks are compulsory in all public spaces.
- The weekly market at the town hall will remain open from Tuesday to Saturday for food and everyday goods (Christmas trees as well as horticultural and floristry products). The food stalls are also allowed to remain open as long as they only sell takeaway food. On-site consumption is prohibited. Stalls with a Christmas range will be closed.
Opening hours:
Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm
Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm
- The central library in the TIETZ, the district libraries and circulation desks will be closed from Wednesday 16 December. The return machine in the TIETZ will be out of service.
For all media whose loan period expires within this period, no late fees will be charged until reopening. Reservations and orders that have already been placed will be retained. However, media will not be made available until the library reopens. All digital services (Onleihe, Filmfriend, Genios etc.) are available without restriction during the special closing period. A valid library card is required for use.
- The Chemnitz City Archive will be closed from today, 14 December. Written requests will continue to be processed in the order in which they are received. Pre-registrations for file inspections in the building file archive can be made at: stadtarchiv(at)stadt-chemnitz.de or via the service number 115. Direct sales of printed matter, anniversary newspapers or copies are also not possible. After a written request (by letter/email), these will be sent by post.
