Idea gardens in Karree 72 - Sonnenberg North
Start of construction from 4 October
From Monday, 4 October, work will begin on the Idea Gardens in Karree 72 on Reinhardtstraße on the Sonnenberg. In September 2017, the city council approved the measures for the in-depth square concept in the Sonnenberg Nord/K72 area.
Firstly, the area will be probed for explosive ordnance. Construction work will then begin depending on the results of the investigation.
The wasteland, which was becoming increasingly overgrown, will be converted into an area for horticultural use. In conjunction with the Heidelberg allotment site, community gardens will be created on Reinhardtstrasse.
The remaining smaller buildings will be demolished. In addition, a water and electricity connection will be created and a tool container will be erected for the summer storage of the gardening tools required on site.
The planning and construction costs total around 185,000 euros, of which around 128,300 euros are subsidies from the "Sustainable urban development" programme.
Completion and handover to the association "Nachhall e. V.", which will manage the area as a community garden, is planned for the end of 2021.
The company Steinbach & Richter, Lichtenau, was commissioned with the realisation of the "Idea Gardens" on the Sonnenberg. They were planned by the planning office Architektur Concept Pfaffhausen + Staudte GbR, Zwickau.
