How bike-friendly is Chemnitz?
Vote in the ADFC Cycling Climate Test 2016 until 30 November!
The survey for the big ADFC Cycling Climate Test 2016 is now open. Together with the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the cycling club is once again calling on cyclists to rate the bicycle friendliness of cities and municipalities. The test helps to recognise strengths and weaknesses in the promotion of cycling. The City of Chemnitz is asking citizens to take part.
A lot has been done in recent years with the adoption of the cycling concept and its gradual implementation. Now the question is: Have the improvements also reached the citizens? What is already going well - what is not? All Chemnitz residents are therefore asked to take a few minutes to complete the survey at www.fahrradklima-test.de.
Is cycling in Chemnitz fun or stressful?
The online survey asks 27 questions about cycling friendliness - for example, whether cycling is fun or stressful, whether the cycle paths are blocked by parking offenders and how safe cycling feels overall. More than 100,000 citizens took part in 2014 and assessed the situation in 468 cities across Germany. In the last ADFC Cycling Climate Test, Chemnitz came 14th out of 39 cities with a population of over 200,000.
The survey will continue until 30 November 2016 via the website www.fahrradklima-test.de.
The results will be presented in spring 2017. The most bicycle-friendly cities and municipalities will be honoured according to four population size categories as well as those cities that have made the most progress since the last survey.
Funding from the Federal Ministry of Transport
The ADFC Cycling Climate Test is the largest survey on the cycling climate worldwide and is taking place for the seventh time this year. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is funding the ADFC Cycling Climate Test 2016 with around 150,000 euros from funds for the implementation of the National Cycling Plan (NRVP).
