"House Burning Down" with Helmut Oehring
Music school: Matinee on 12 June, 11 a.m., concert hall of the municipal music school
On Sunday, 12 June at 11 a.m., the Städtische Musikschule in cooperation with the Chemnitzer Musikverein e.V. invites you to a matinee entitled "House Burning Down" in the concert hall, Gerichtsstraße 1. The internationally award-winning composer, guitarist and director Helmut Oehring will be the guest. Admission costs 10 euros, concessions 5 euros, free admission for schoolchildren.
With the participation of soprano Katharina Kunze and the "Ensemble 01", songs and the world première of the 3rd string quartet will be performed. Helmut Oehring will also read from his autobiography "Mit anderen Augen. From child of deaf parents to composer", which he produced as a radio play for SWR in 2015. He also talks to Andreas Winkler about his life and work using video documents.
Helmut Oehring, born in Berlin in 1961, was a master student of Georg Katzer at the Akademie der Künste Berlin from 1990 to 1992, despite being excluded from studying in the GDR as a conscientious objector. Oehring was honoured with appointments as a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and Saxony as well as the Academy of German Music Authors. In 2015 he received the German Music Authors' Prize. In 2020/21 he was an Excellence Fellow at the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles. His latest works include the dance-music film "BEETHOVEN? Der erlösende Fehler" (September 2021) and the dance requiem "EURYDIKE? Vol. 2" (premiere February 2022 in Hellerau).
