Holiday offers of the Museum of Natural History Chemnitz
Journey back in time to 291 million years ago - at the "Window into the Earth's history" Invitation for media representatives: 18 August, 9.30 a.m., Glockenstraße 16
The Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz is once again offering interesting activities during the summer holidays on the site of the scientific excavation "Window into the Earth's History". Children can go on a journey back in time to 291 million years ago.
On Wednesday 18 August at 9.30 a.m., representatives of the media are cordially invited to gain an insight into the holiday programme on site. Museum educators Isabelle Ehle and Anne Förster will present the programme content. In addition, children from the Georg-Götz-School for the hearing-impaired will be able to look over their shoulders as they make their discoveries.

Where today the city park invites you to relax and people flock to the museums, 291 million years ago nimble prehistoric dinosaurs romped in the treetops and giant dragonflies buzzed through the air. A volcanic eruption buried this habitat and preserved it. Monday programme: The forest through the ages
We will explore the question of what the forest looked like 291 million years ago and how it has changed to this day. Together we will get creative and develop ideas for future forests.
Wednesday programme: Mysterious world of stone - quiz for excavation detectives
As an excavation detective, you have the task of solving a stony quiz. You will explore the excavation site on your own. The reward is guaranteed for patient detectives!
Friday programme: Volcanoes - the hot breath of the earth
What do your favourite sofa cushion and your hair have to do with a volcanic eruption? We'll explain it to you in this programme. At the end of the programme we will make a volcano erupt.

Steinreich - treasure hunt in Chemnitz (all dates are already booked)
This programme has been specially developed for after-school groups, including special education groups. The children explore this fossilised treasure as part of a rally and investigate the questions: Who lived in the forest when the volcano erupted? What do volcanic eruptions and popcorn have in common? Which animal once lived in a house that resembles a snail?
