Holiday events in the zoo and wildlife park

Changing guided tours, show feeding and wild cat day

With the start of the autumn holidays next Monday, visitors to Chemnitz Zoo can discover the animal world on daily guided tours starting at 11am. The first tour on Monday 20 October will focus on the marmosets. Further information can be found on the homepage www.tierpark-chemnitz.de or by calling (0371) 85 00 28.

Show feedings take place at the wildlife park in Rabenstein every weekday except 31 October at 11 am. The lynx and wolf (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) as well as the mouflons and wild boar (Tuesdays and Thursdays) are fed in the presence of visitors.

On Saturday, 18 October from 11 am to 4 pm, you can make lanterns in the game enclosure with the Stollberg cultural group. One day later, on Sunday 19 October, the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND), Landesverband Sachsen e.V. will be visiting the game reserve with its "Wildkatzensprung" project. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., all interested parties are cordially invited to follow in the footsteps of the shy animals, discover why the wildcat is not a feral domestic cat, where the animals are native to Germany and why the wildcat's habitat - the semi-natural forest - is endangered. BUND has a vision for the future to save these endangered animals: the planting of corridors to reconnect habitats so that the wildcat and many other forest species can once again roam the forests of Saxony in the near future. Visitors can also look forward to a varied programme with a wheel of fortune, film screening, puzzles and information.
