Swimming lessons during the summer holidays
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, school swimming had to be cancelled for second-graders in the second half of the school year. For those who were therefore unable to complete their course, the city of Chemnitz is offering courses during the summer holidays. The current regulations of the Corona Protection Ordinance apply, i.e. the distance regulations are also observed in the pools. The instructors stand at the edge of the pool.
Offer swimming pool Am Südring (individual lessons for pupils in class 2)
In the first week of the holidays, from 20 to 24 July, there will be a swimming course in the Am Südring swimming pool. The price for the five sessions, daily from 2 to 3 pm, is 9 euros in total. A maximum of eight children can take part. At the end of the course, the seahorse certificate will be awarded. City pool programme (individual lessons for pupils in Year 2)
In the fourth week of the holidays, from 10 to 14 August, there will be a swimming course in the municipal pool. The price for the five sessions is 10 euros in total. The courses are offered daily from 8.30 am to 9.30 am or from 9.45 am to 10.45 am. A maximum of eight children can take part in each course. At the end of the course, the seahorse certificate is awarded.
Also in the fourth week of the holiday, up to ten children can complete a course for the bronze swimming badge every day from 11 am to 12 pm.

On Sunday, 30 August, primary school pupils who have not yet obtained their seahorse and swimming passports can have their swimming ability tested at the municipal pool. The swimming instructors will be available from 9am to 12pm. Registration is not necessary. All you have to do is pay the regular entrance fee. The certificate will be issued free of charge on this day.
It is currently being examined whether and how a joint swimming course can be organised by the city and the Chemnitz State Office for Schools and Education for children in the current Year 2 during the coming autumn and winter holidays. The aim is to enable as many schoolchildren in the current Year 2 to learn to swim as possible.
