Historic Christmas market at the Schloßbergmuseum
On Saturday, 10 December, from 2 pm to 6 pm, guests are invited to a historical Christmas market at the Schloßbergmuseum. This extends along the market stalls between the museum and the Lapidarium.
Admission costs 4 euros for adults. Children and young people up to the age of 18 do not pay admission.
The motto of the historical Christmas market is "History(s) from the monastery, castle and town. Experience - touch - try". It's all about the market and princely camps, the splendour of clothing and dress codes, medieval professions and armour and weapons.
Ointments, oils and herbal teas are presented at the pharmacy stand. Christmas cards are designed and written in the monastery scriptorium. There will be grilled sausages, home-baked bread and mulled wine to keep you going. The historical kitchen will also be presented. The historical craftsmanship demonstrates the production of ropes, blueprinting and weaving. There is the opportunity to purchase small souvenirs everywhere.
The evening ends with a historical cistern concert "Salvum me faq". During the Christmas market, visitors can also visit the museum with its permanent exhibitions "Gothic Sculpture in Saxony" and "Chemnitz History Picture Gallery". The special exhibitions "Metamorphosis" and "Sound of the Big City" are also open.
