Hike in the footsteps of Carl-Heinz Westenburger
Invitation for Saturday, 6 September
The Environmental Centre of the City of Chemnitz is organising a second walk in memory of the well-known landscape painter and nature lover Carl-Heinz Westenburger (1924-2008) and invites you to take part: The date is Saturday, 6 September, 10 a.m. from the Tannenberg outdoor pool. The local organisers are the Erzgebirgszweigverein Tannenberg and the Bund Naturschutz Sachsen. The destination is the Lohenbach Valley, a well-known nature reserve with valuable Erzgebirge flora. In 2007, a hike with Carl-Heinz, who originally initiated the annual hike (in the photo with Manfred Hastedt, Head of the Environmental Centre), led to the Lohenbach Valley.
The first hike in the footsteps of Carl-Heinz Westenburger led to the Úhošť/Burberg table mountain near Kadaň/Kaaden in July.
The exhibition: This year's special exhibition of the Erzgebirge Landscape Art Collection at Schlettau Castle is dedicated to the 90th birthday of Carl-Heinz Westenburger, the collection's doyen. In addition to paintings, drawings and prints from his estate, the exhibition, which runs until 2 November 2014, also presents a series of photographs by the artist for the first time.
