Highlights become visible
Exhibitions on nature photography and graphic design at the Museum für Naturkunde - Opening on 29 November - Invitation to press conference on 28 November, 11 a.m.
In the run-up to the exhibition openings "Highlights of Nature Photography 2017" and "DESIGNATUR GRAFIKUNDE - 20 Years of Design & Nature", the Museum für Naturkunde is inviting media representatives to a first tour of the exhibitions on Tuesday, 28 November 2017 at 11 am.
Graphic designer Evgeniy Potievsky and Dr Thorid Zierold, curator of natural sciences at the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz, will provide insights into the development of the exhibitions.
The two special exhibitions will open at the Museum für Naturkunde on 29 November 2017.
"Highlights of nature photography 2017"
This year's winner of the international nature photography competition Highlights of Nature Photography 2017 is Marcio Cabral from Brazil. His image "Foraging with illumination" shows a termite mound covered in glowing fireflies, which is being visited by an anteater for food. "For us, this is an incredible event as well as a unique nature document and undoubtedly worthy of an award," said the organisers of the competition from project natur & fotografie. The photo was taken at night in the Emas National Park in the central savannah highlands of Brazil.
The Highlights of Nature Photography has been running for 19 years. This year, too, the selection of photographs was very large - a four-member jury of renowned nature photographers selected the winning images from 20,162 pictures by over 1,000 photographers from 35 countries.

"DESIGNATUR GRAFIKUNDE - 20 years of design & nature"
This special exhibition invites you to discover, remember and enjoy. At the centre of the exhibition on the museum floor are exhibition posters and print media created by graphic designer Evgeniy Potievsky.
On the one hand, the installation conveys the variety of scientific topics presented at the Museum für Naturkunde and, on the other, it emphasises the joy that the graphic designer felt in the creation process of each individual project. At the same time, the exhibition is an example of integration in everyday life.
Catalogues are available to purchase for both exhibitions.
The exhibitions can be seen at the TIETZ until 14 January 2018.
