#herstory - Saxony and its female academics
Exhibition opening on 15 October, 4 pm in the foyer of the TIETZ
On Monday, 15 October at 4 pm, the Chemnitz Women's Initiative Network and Equal Opportunities Officer Pia Hamann invite all interested parties to the TIETZ foyer for the joint opening of the #herstory exhibition. Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
After a brief welcome by the Equal Opportunities Officer, Kim Schmidt, a young researcher at Chemnitz University of Technology in the field of theoretical physics, will give introductory remarks. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to engage in dialogue.
The #herstory exhibition honours exemplary female academics and scientists from Saxony's higher education landscape from the past and present, making them ambassadors of female educational ambition across regional borders. The lives of the women portrayed in the exhibition are academic success stories made in Saxony.
Saxony's universities and colleges are among the richest in tradition in Germany - a history that would be inconceivable without female participation. Women have been flocking to Saxony's universities and colleges in search of education for almost 150 years, even before women were officially allowed to study. However, formal equality did not mean actual equality in everyday university life. Women had to work hard for their place in studies, research and teaching - despite all doubts, prejudices and resistance.

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 9pm
Saturday 9.30 am to 6 pm
Sunday 9.45 am to 6 pm
The exhibition has a listening station.
