Henriettenstraße pavement to be renewed
Measure to be carried out in sections - tree felling required
Since 7 August, two sections of the southern pavement in Henriettenstraße have been being renewed. From Franz-Mehring-Straße to Erich-Mühsam-Straße and from Georg-Landgraf-Straße to Barbarossastraße, the crossing points at the Henriettenstraße/Barbarossastraße junction are being made barrier-free.
The existing granite slabs, small paving stones, pavement slabs and thin layers of asphalt will be removed and replaced with both existing granite slabs and new concrete slabs. The natural stone kerbs will also be aligned in terms of height and position. The redesign of the pavement corresponds to the Kaßberg area monument.
In this context, seven street trees (city pears) will have to be felled in the first construction phase. The trees are weakened in their vitality and root development and it is not possible to preserve them. The felling is expected to take place towards the end of the week. New young trees will be planted once the construction work has been completed.
The street lighting will also be replaced as part of the construction work.
Chemnitzer Verkehrsbau GmbH has been commissioned with this construction work. The costs amount to approx. 200,000 euros. Completion is planned by 20 October 2017.
