Heinrich Nottbohm signs the city's Golden Book
The city of Chemnitz today thanked Heinrich Nottbohm, head of the VW engine plant, for over ten years of dedicated service to this Chemnitz-based business enterprise and honoured him at his place of work with an entry in the city's Golden Book.
The 64-year-old, who is now retiring, was honoured for his services to the expansion of the plant, his commitment to creating new jobs and the economic development of Chemnitz. The graduate mechanical engineer from Lower Saxony has been head of the Chemnitz engine plant since 1 March 2006.
He has received numerous awards during his time in office. For example, the Chemnitz engine plant of Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH was honoured as "Factory of the Year 2009" in the "Outstanding Innovation Management" category, followed two years later by the overall "Factory of the Year" award. In 2014, the plant received the gold certificate for high resource efficiency and environmental compatibility and was recognised as a sustainable industrial site by the DGNB. During Heinrich Nottbohm's tenure, the number of employees has more than doubled. 6.5 million motors were built in ten years under his leadership. In doing so, he helped Chemnitz engine manufacturing to achieve an international reputation.
