Health department provides information on corona protection measures
Due to high infection rates: City of Chemnitz bans events with more than 1000 spectators with immediate effect - masks compulsory in municipal office buildings from tomorrow
Due to rising corona infection numbers, events with more than 1000 spectators are prohibited in Chemnitz with immediate effect. This was announced today by the health department of the city of Chemnitz.
The so-called incidence value with the average number of people testing positive rose above the 20 mark for the first time yesterday. This decision was therefore taken in accordance with §5 of the Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance. All events of this kind now require an exceptional authorisation. Yesterday, the public health department reported 21 new infections.
The head of the health department, Dr Harald Uerlings, reserves the right to take additional measures if the numbers remain high. This means that smaller events at the weekend may also be cancelled at short notice.
Dr Uerlings once again appeals to the people of Chemnitz to consistently adhere to the existing rules in order to contain the spread of infection: "Distance, hygiene and wearing a mouth-nose covering where distance cannot be maintained are the absolute essentials these days. It also makes sense to air rooms regularly. The catering industry has a special responsibility to ensure that hygiene concepts are correctly observed and implemented in their establishments."
From tomorrow, the city administration has declared the wearing of face masks mandatory in all municipal buildings. All employees are also required to wear a face covering until they reach their workplace.
