Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "Today, Dr Peter Seifert is celebrating his 80th birthday. A man who has done a lot for Chemnitz. An honorary citizen of our city who rightly bears this title. A visionary and pragmatist in equal measure. A doer, enabler, networker and sports supporter. Someone who has left his mark on our city and who is still spoken of with respect and esteem today. Someone who has been with me for almost three decades: As a role model, companion, counsellor and personal friend. It is a great honour and obligation for me to be one of his successors."
