Handover of funding decision for games hall at Sportforum and Klaffenbach gymnasium

On Saturday 10 June at 5.30 pm, Mayor Barbara Ludwig will receive the notification from Saxony's Minister of the Interior, Markus Ulbig, regarding the provision of funding amounting to 69,059.45 euros for the games hall in the Sportforum and 484,333.14 euros for the Klaffenbach gymnasium. The handover will take place in the entrance area between the sports high school and the sports secondary school. Representatives of the press are cordially invited to attend.
Renovation of the old Klaffenbach gymnasium
The old gymnasium will be converted into sanitary and changing areas as well as storage rooms. School sports will use the sanitary facilities on the ground floor, while club sports will use those on the upper floor. The ground floor will also have barrier-free access. With the exception of the roof construction, the refurbishment covers the entire building. This means that sports lessons for school classes and clubs cannot take place. Alternative facilities will be organised. The construction work will begin in March 2018 and is expected to take one year. The total costs amount to approx. 1,067,000 euros, subsidised with 484,333.14 euros.
Energy-efficient façade refurbishment of the Sportforum games centre
The games hall will be fitted with a thermal insulation composite system. This will save operating costs and fulfil the current requirements of the Energy Ordinance. The total costs amount to 148,212 euros. A subsidy totalling 69,059.45 euros will be provided. The project is also scheduled to begin in March 2018 and will take two months to complete.
