Handing over the keys to the Reitbahnhaus

In the Reitbahn neighbourhood, the non-profit Heim GmbH today accepted the keys to its latest project in the presence of Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig. In the Reitbahnhaus, senior citizens and children will be able to enjoy everyday life together. There are 16 day care places available for senior citizens. Right next door are two childminder flats where children up to the age of three can be looked after. The centrepiece of the building is a 50m² exercise pool. It is barrier-free and has a higher water temperature.

The foundation stone was laid on 3 March 2014. Eight months later, the first residents can move in. Managing Director Karl Friedrich Schmerer and authorised signatory Sebastian Schmidt are delighted that the schedule has been met. Mayor Barbara Ludwig praised the project, which exemplifies intergenerational working. Architect Claus Höhn finally handed over the key to Katrin Gebhardt, manager of the Reitbahnhaus.

The city of Chemnitz is supporting the construction project with 187,000 euros. The total costs amount to around two million euros. 560,000 euros are ERDF funding.
