Halfpipe must be dismantled
Parts of the skating facility at Robert-Siewert-Str. 48 must be dismantled immediately by the Parks Department. During one of the routine inspections yesterday, considerable safety-relevant defects were discovered on the halfpipe, which has existed since 1995.
So far, the damage that has occurred over the years has been repaired at a reasonable cost, so that the facility has always been safe to use. However, the recently discovered defects affect the statics of the halfpipe and can no longer be repaired. Some of the damage is the result of vandalism, for example a railing has been destroyed and the running track shows signs of fire damage. In addition, the substructure is rotten in some places and is therefore not sufficiently stable.
The damage listed above means that safety can no longer be guaranteed for the entire facility. For this reason, the facility is being demolished today. The other play elements remain unaffected and can continue to be used without restriction.
