Municipal Music School: A varied programme from 9 to 15 August – registration open until 28 June

From Sunday to Saturday, 9 to 15 August, the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School e. V. invite you to this year’s Guitar Days. Throughout the week, participants and audience members can look forward to a varied programme of virtuoso concerts and inspiring courses at the music school, located at Gerichtsstraße 1.

Firstly, all guitar enthusiasts are invited to hone their skills in masterclasses and an orchestra workshop, and to learn from experienced artists. Registration for the courses is required by 28 June via Stefan Scherf, deputy chair of the Friends’ Association, by email to stefanscherfgit(at)me.com or by telephone on 0151 53071298. The fees for taking part in the courses and the workshop range from 25 to 100 euros.

For those wishing to enjoy the sounds of the guitar, there are three concerts on offer. They will all take place in the concert hall of the Municipal Music School, and admission is free.

The series kicks off with the opening concert on 9 August at 2.30 pm, featuring the duo Anastasia and Philippe Villa from France. A special highlight awaits visitors on 14 August, from 6.30 pm: flamenco guitarist Martin Schmieder from Leipzig will showcase his skills – a live event the likes of which Chemnitz has not seen for a long time. The Guitar Days will draw to a close with the closing concert on 15 August. From 3 pm , all participants will come together to celebrate the versatility and expressiveness of the guitar in a rousing finale.
