Ground-breaking ceremony for the "Höhensonne" sports ground functional building

Invitation: on 3 February, 2.30 pm, SV IKA Chemnitz e. V., Max-Saupe-Straße 70

On Monday, 3 February at 2.30 pm, the construction of a functional building in modular construction for the sports club SV IKA Chemnitz e.V. on the "Höhensonne" sports field will begin with a ground-breaking ceremony, which will be held by Lord Mayor Sven Schulze together with club representatives and other people involved in the construction.

Representatives of the media are invited to attend.

The current building on the "Höhensonne" is in a structurally poor condition. Renovation is not feasible due to the building fabric and capacity.

The functional building will be constructed as a turnkey container facility consisting of 15 container modules and in accordance with the Building Energy Act (GEG). An additional monopitch roof construction provides space for a photovoltaic system to ensure an effective self-supply of electricity and to support the generation of electrical heat and hot water.
There are three changing rooms, two sanitary rooms with showers and toilets, functionally required rooms (e.g. house connection/technical room, laundry room, storage) and two separate toilet rooms for spectators, one of which is also barrier-free.
In addition, rainwater, which can only partially seep away due to the prevailing soil conditions, will be stored. Furthermore, a barrier-free car parking space will be located directly next to the functional building.

The work should be completed by the end of July 2025. The costs amount to around 880,000 euros. The project is being financed entirely from the City of Chemnitz's own funds.
