Ground-breaking ceremony for Terra Nova Campus "Green Classroom"
Invitation to the photo session: today, 5 May, 12 noon
The ground-breaking ceremony for a "green classroom" will take place today at 12 noon on the Terra Nova Campus site. In addition to Mayor Michael Stötzer, Katharina Witt and Gisela Mothes, who is continuing the social commitment of her late husband, Dietmar Mothes, former President of the Chamber of Crafts, are expected as guests.
After five years of operation at the Entdeckerschule, the final service module, the "Green Classroom", is now being realised. The discovery school went into operation in February 2016. The foundation stone for the Terra Nova Campus was laid on 24 June 2013.
The idea for a "green classroom" was born at the old school site and was taken up again at the new site from an educational perspective. The location of the "green classroom" offers a wonderful view of the neighbouring Zeisigwald forest and offers pure nature. The planned equipment for this outdoor area includes fruit trees and shrubs, raised beds and a covered outdoor classroom with awnings. There will also be raspberry and blackberry trellises for snacking and insects can be observed at the insect hotel.
The company Freiraumplanung mit System, Landschaftsarchitekten, which had already supervised the overall construction project, was commissioned with the planning and the company Grünanlagen Uwe Pügner - Landschaftsgestaltung will be responsible for the construction of the "Green Classroom".
The project costs just under 100,000 euros, of which 10,000 euros were donated by the Terra Nova Campus e.V. support association.
