Ground-breaking ceremony for fire service technical centre
Next Saturday, 4 November at 10 a.m., the starting signal will be given for the construction of the new Fire Service Technical Centre on the site of Fire Station 3 at Jagdschänkenstraße 53, 09116 Chemnitz.
Saxony's Minister of the Interior Markus Ulbig, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig, Mayor Sven Schulze and representatives of the Chemnitz professional fire brigade and volunteer fire brigades will jointly break ground for the project.

The new Chemnitz Fire Service Technical Centre in the immediate vicinity of Chemnitz 3 fire station in the industrial estate on Neefestraße will house a functional building with training, administration and social areas, vehicle halls for water rescue and disaster control as well as storage rooms for emergency equipment. In addition, the city fire brigade association and the city youth fire brigade will be able to use rooms in the new fire brigade technical centre for their voluntary work.
The outdoor area includes various training areas, for example for drawing off extinguishing water, rescuing trapped persons or rescuing people from a tram or a burning car. There will also be a three-storey training tower suitable for competitions with a run-up track and an adjoining training cellar for wet and dry training.
The costs total 6.25 million euros. The construction project is to be subsidised with
4.69 million euros from the "Bridges to the Future" funding programme, with the City of Chemnitz contributing around 1.56 million euros. The complex is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2019.
