On Thursday 26 June at 6 p.m., Mayor Michael Stötzer will welcome around 100 participants of the Federal Congress of Green Associations in the Green Salon and the Wandelhalle of Chemnitz City Hall. The congress will take place in Chemnitz from 25 to 28 June under the title "Developing cities naturally: nature-based - species-rich - climate-adapted".
Representatives of the media are invited to the reception in the town hall.
A total of 150 representatives from administration, politics, science, planning and the green sector will meet in Chemnitz to set the tone for technical and political developments. The location was chosen deliberately, as Chemnitz has attracted attention as the European Capital of Culture and for its interventions in urban greenery. The congress is organised by the German Conference of Gardening Officers. However, the City of Chemnitz Green Space Office is closely involved in the preparation and realisation.
The event starts on Thursday, 26 June, with the 67th German Gardening Officers' Conference and the GALK e. V. general meeting at the Gargen Campus. This will be followed on Friday, 27 June, by the joint national congress of the green associations - with presentations by, among others, Mayor Michael Stötzer on "Stadt am Fluss" and Peter Börner, Head of the Green Space Office, on the urban greenery of Chemnitz. On Saturday, 28 June, excursions are planned, including through the new park on the Pleißenbach.
