Great response to the open-air gallery
Being outside - my family and I in the city
In this year's open-air gallery "Being outside - my family and I in the city", 30 organisations and around 1000 children took part with pictures, handicrafts and short texts. "The response has been overwhelming," says children and youth representative Ute Spindler, who would now like to visit all the works.
From 1 February to 26 March 2021, children from Chemnitz displayed their own works of art on fences for children to admire as part of the participatory campaign for institutions such as daycare centres, nurseries and schools, as well as individuals. Designed pictures or works of art were presented in their own outdoor area, for example at the facility or on the garden fence, with the aim of setting an example for the children in the city.
As is currently the case at the "Herbies Rabenburg" daycare centre at the DRK Rabenstein hospital, Chemnitz residents can also walk past other facilities and admire numerous works by young artists. Over the past few weeks, the children have each put individual pictures of different ravens on paper. These extensive collections of pictures now adorn the fences around the centre.
The exhibition was organised by the Local Alliance for Families in Chemnitz (Lobü-C), which aims to set an example for a family-friendly and peaceful Chemnitz during the coronavirus pandemic. Parents, authorities and carers are currently working together to find practical solutions to cope with the new, unfamiliar everyday life in the best possible way.
The cooperation partners of the Local Alliance for Families, the Workers' Welfare Association, the City Sports Association, the Chamber of Industry and Crafts, the Technical University through the Family Service, solaris GmbH and the Children and Youth Officer, offer a wide range of services as the "Prevention for a family-friendly Chemnitz" network.
