Graphic exhibition lebens-wert
Exhibition opening on 4 March, 1.30 pm at the Chemnitz Health Department
On Monday, 4 March at 1.30 p.m., the city's health department will open the graphic art exhibition lebens-wert. The graphic exhibition is part of the art project "SaufDRUCK" by the Chemnitz artist Ronald Münch. Anyone interested is cordially invited to the opening in the premises of the City of Chemnitz Health Department, Am Rathaus 8, 1st floor. The exhibition can be seen until 28 June during the general opening hours of the health department.
For the art project "SaufDRUCK", 18 people with a diagnosis of mental illness came together and spent six months processing their experiences and feelings through the medium of art. Social exclusion and rejection is something that almost all people with this diagnosis fear or have experienced. And yet it can affect anyone, the person living on the street, the civil servant, the child, the student, anyone who is supposedly successful or has failed. The participants found the courage to stand up together and come to terms with their experiences and fears. The results can be seen in this impressive exhibition.
The project recognises and publicly appreciates people who are alone with their diagnosis and often go unnoticed on the margins of society. Ronald Münch, an artist from Chemnitz, initiated the project and gave those affected space to come together in a "respectful community". In 2017, he was honoured with the Citizens' Prize of the Chemnitz Community Foundation for this work.
